Prof. Bhabatosh Chanda received the degrees of B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calcutta, India, in 1979 and 1988, respectively. He has served as a Professor with the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, the National Academy of Science, India, the Indian National Academy of Engineering, and the International Association of Pattern Recognition. He received the Young Scientist Medal of the Indian National Science Academy in 1989, the Vikram Sarabhai Research Award in 2002, and the IETE-Ram Lal Wadhwa Gold Medal in 2007. He is currently serving as a Visiting Professor in Indian Institute of Information Technology Kalyani, India.
